MEETINGS
Thursday, June 12, 2008
Thank you to Lora Gardner, who did a
terrific program on Knitted Edgings! She also taught us some hand
exercises to keep us knitting. I have included them here for those who
were not at the meeting.
Hand Massage With the thumb of the
left hand, massage the palm of the right hand. At the same time, wrap
the fingers of the left hand round the outside of the right hand and
massage. Massage for one minute. Repeat with opposite hand.Clench and Fan Clench your hand into a
tight fist and hold for five seconds. Release smoothly, extending the
thumb and fingers into a fully stretched position and hold for five
seconds. Repeat five times for each hand.Thumb Stretch With the left hand,
gently pull the thumb of the right hand away from the thumb and down
toward the forearm. Hold for five seconds. You should feel the stretch
in the base of the thumb, palm side. Repeat for the left thumb. Five
repetitions, alternate thumbs.Wrist Stretch Hold the right hand in
front of the body, palm facing out, fingertips up, fingers together.
With the left hand, grasp the right hand's outstretched fingers and
gently pull the fingers back toward the body. Hold for five seconds. You
should feel the stretch in the wrist area. Repeat for the left wrist.
Five repetitions, alternative wrists.Wrist Circles With hands in front of
the body and elbows held at a comfortable angle, gently rotate the
wrists. Five repetitions in each direction.

We are on-line! Check us out. You will find Program information, links to interesting knitting information and much more. You will also find a link to join the Needles and Skeins Yahoo group. Communicate with other guild members between meetings with this fun and easy to use group! Do you have any ideas to share with the Guild? Suggestions, questions, criticisms? We want to hear them all. A suggestion box will be on the Welcome Table at all meetings, please feel free to give the Board your feedback (anonymously if your choose) or email them to us. We can't make the Guild better unless we know what you want.
Help Table
There is a Help Table at the back of the room at each meeting. If you have a question about a knitting project that you are working on - this is the place to go. The Table is "open" 9-9:15 before the meeting, during the break and after the meeting. The table will be closed during the program.
KNITTING TO SHARE
The service committee needs your help. Each member received a "Knitting To Share" booklet with their paid membership last year. (Extras are $2 each). In the booklet there are lots of patterns for charity knitting. Hopefully you can find a project that you'll enjoy knitting and sharing with others in need. We will donate items to the Children's Home, Nursing Homes and Hospitals. Please bring you knitted contributions to the meetings. Help warm the hands and hearts of a person in need. |
